Divisibility Rules | What is the Rule of Divisibility

In this series I am writing basic math concepts for the children for math beginners. I’m going to explain some basic divisibility rules that are very much important to have a better elementary mathematical understanding.

These rules will help you to understand the concept and implement these basic rules quickly so that you could perform arithmetical calculations easily and quickly.

These rules are the type of Framework that has been defined by the genius of Mathematics . Now without much gossip let’s Jump to the topic.

Divisibility Rules For Beginners

Below in one by one manner, i am going to explain about all the rules of divisibility. I have written these rules from 2 to 10 with the hope that they will be useful for you.

Divisibility by 2

Any number having 0, 2 and multiple of 2 at units place will be divisible by 2. For example- 4,10,20,50 etc. are divisible by 2

Divisibility by 3

if sum of the individual digits in a number is divisible by 3 , then this number will be divisible by 3.

eg:- 3,9,12,25,330 etc… will be divided by 3.

Divisibility by 4

in any given number If the number formed by the digits at the tens place and units place is divisible by 4 then that number will be divided for can be divided or will be divisible by 4

Divisibility by 5

If a number contains 0 or 5 at its unit place then this number will be divisible by 5.

eg:- 25, 35,550,2100 are divisible by 5

Divisibility by 6

If a number is divisible by 2 and 3 then this number will be divisible by 6 also.

eg:- 36,24 etc…

Divisibility by 8

Friends if the given number is divisible by 2 and 4 then this number will be divisible by 8 . for 3 or more digits number if the number formed from the last 3 digits of the number is divisible by 8 then that particular number will be divisible by 8

eg:- 32,24344 etc…

Divisibility by 9

For a given number if the sum of the digit of a number is divisible by 9 then that number will be divisible by 9

Divisibility by 10

If if a number contains 0 or double zero at its unit place then it will be divisible by 10

Divisibility by 11

If the difference of the sum of the alternative digit in the number is zero or divisible by 11 such as 121, 12111 etc. then this number will be divisible by 11

When a number is the product of two or more numbers then this different different numbers called the factors of that given number. for example if 35 is equal to 7 x 5 then 5 and 7 are known as the factors of 35.
